Pathfinder Healthcare Group and Thrive Mental Wellbeing launch a new app to enhance mental health recovery

We are excited to announce the launch of a clinically-proven app designed to enhance mental health recovery. This innovative app - developed by Pathfinder Healthcare Group and Thrive Mental Wellbeing - delivers a confidential and comprehensive support system, catering to both inpatient and community-based settings.

Thrive Mental Wellbeing currently reaches 1.6 million people worldwide and has already assisted over 40,000 people in their recovery journeys. The new app, was developed by Dr. Andres Fonseca, CEO of Thrive and Consultant Psychiatrist, and Dr. Adam Huxley, CEO of Pathfinder and Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologist.

Addressing the Growing Demand for Mental Health Services

“There is an overwhelming demand for mental health services, which continues to increase and puts additional pressures on public services. Long waiting lists for accessing appropriate therapy delay intervention and can lead to crisis admissions to inpatient settings, negatively impacting recovery. We developed the app to enable people who require support to have resources at their fingertips, at the time they need it,” says Dr. Fonseca.

Accessible anytime and anywhere, the app empowers users to manage their mental health effectively and confidentially.

Empowering People Through Self-Management

Dr. Huxley emphasises the app's vision: “The vision for the app is to empower individuals to access quality mental health support. An app where they can self-manage their symptoms, monitor their mental health daily, receive tools and techniques to self-manage their recovery.

Over the past 10 years, we have carried out rigorous research trials and worked in partnership with University College London and the University of Roehampton to gather clinical evidence that the Thrive app provides significant benefits and helps people self-navigate their recovery and manage their symptoms. The aim of using the app is not to replace the need for treatment, but as an adjunct to the therapeutic support people are already receiving.

The app not only supports recovery but also promotes sustained wellbeing post-discharge. For people who have severe and enduring mental health difficulties this is an exciting innovation to reduce length of stay in hospital and promote sustained recovery in the community.”

Key Benefits of the App:

Users can access clinically proven mental health support whenever they need it, without waiting lists or referrals.

Transforming Mental Health Care

Dr. Huxley concludes: “The app doesn’t replace face-to-face treatment as we understand that people with severe mental health difficulties need multidisciplinary team support. The app empowers people to proactively manage their wellbeing and reduce their risk of relapse and readmission to psychiatric hospitals. We believe that through the combination of our clinical expertise and digital technologies, we can fundamentally improve outcomes for people with mental health needs, drive transformation of mental health care and support and reduce cost.”

Free Lifetime Access for Pathfinder Service Users

Pathfinder service users, including those in specialist high dependency rehabilitation services, residential, and community care, will receive free lifetime access to the app’s self-management tools.

By leveraging clinical insights and patient feedback, this app is set to revolutionise access to mental health therapies and improve recovery outcomes.
